Thomas (Son of Ralph) Leftwich, Sr

Marriage: (1st) ca. 1700-1702 to Elizabeth Rosier (daughter of Mary Williamson and John Rosier, Jr.). Elizabeth Rosier was born in Westmoreland County, VA. There were no children born to this marriage. Elizabeth Rosier died ca. 1701-1702. On November 25, 1700, John Rosier gave a gift of deed to his daughter, Elizabeth Rosier Leftwich, "the parcel of land lying and being in the county and parish above (Westmoreland County and Washington Parish), beginning at the head of the pond and running to a line of Redmans."

Marriage: (2nd) ca. 1704-1705 in Caroline Co., VA, to Mary North (daughter of Dorothy Henry and Augustine North). Mary North was born in 1686 in Essex County, VA. Her date of death is unknown.

Marriage: (3rd) Sarah ________, who, after Thomas’ death ca. 1830, married William

Herndon, born 1706, of Caroline County, VA.

In 1708, Thomas Leftwich, Sr. sold 75 acres of the original 300-acre land grant in New Kent County, VA of Ralph Leftwich, his father, to David Pritchett.

Death: Thomas Leftwich, Sr. - ca. 1730.

Children of Thomas Leftwich, Sr.:

Mary Leftwich - Birth ca. 1707-1708. Mary Leftwich is mentioned in her grandmother’s (Dorothy North Henry) will in 1709. Mary would have been a very young child at the time.

Marriage: 1728 in Caroline County, VA to Richard Straughan, (son of Richard Straughan, born ca. 1680 in Scotland; died in Middlesex County, VA, date unknown); baptized May 12, 1706, in Middlesex County, VA. Richard Straughan died October 9, 1766, in Caroline County, VA.

Death: Mary Leftwich’s date of death is unknown.

Thomas Leftwich, Jr. - Birth ca. 1710 in Caroline County, VA.

Marriage: Possibly to Mary Moxley, but unknown for certain.

Death: ________

Augustine Leftwich, Sr. - Birth : ca. 1712-1715 in New Kent County, VA.

Marriage: (1st) unknown. All of Augustine Sr.’s 12 children were born to his first wife.

Marriage: (2nd) 1779, in Bedford County, VA, to Elizabeth Fuqua Stovall (daughter of Thomas Fuqua and wife, unknown, and widow of John Stovall). There were no issue to this late-life marriage.
