"Leftwich Cousins" is fiction and was inspired by
the writer's own maternal Leftwich ancestry. An ancient ghost, in early life a real
Norman magnate and cousin of William the Conqueror, guides the writer back in time to
witness close-ups of lesser-known snippets of history, each involving a ghost's
relations. Interesting and entertaining reading -- a departure from other
Leftwich genealogical books to date.
Annie Laurie Beauchamp,
1884-1965, Her Ancestors, Allied Families and Descendants, recently published
by Gateway Press in Baltimore, contains a section which may be of interest to Leftwich
family members. Annie's mother was Ruthie Rosanna Leftwich, daughter of Joel Leftwich and
Jane Wise. Joel descended from Captain John Leftwich (1750-1797) through his son James
Hart Leftwich (1790-aft.1850). Twenty-three pages of the book trace this Leftwich lineage.
The book contains 314 pages, 30 photographs, several maps and charts. It is 6 X 9 inches,
printed on acid-free paper and has a cloth hardcover embossed in gold. It can be ordered
